Mrs. Florida International®

Ashley Maguire - On-Line Winner

Ashley Maguire is the reigning Mrs. Florida International 2008.  Ashley was born in Fort Lauderdale, FL.  Now a resident of the Village of Wellington, FL, “The Equestrian Capital of the World,” Ashley has made finding a cure for diabetes her passion.

With over 21,000,000 Americans living with diabetes and the statistical probability that one of every three children born today being diagnosed with diabetes during their life, Ashley felt that she had a responsibility to make a difference.  And a difference she has made!

As the Chairperson for a fundraising gala for diabetes for the past two years, as well as being an advocate and spokesperson for diabetes organizations such as the Diabetes Research Institute, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and the American Diabetes Association, Ashley has raised over $400,000 for the fight against diabetes.  But Ashley’s quest to make a difference doesn’t stop with diabetes.

Over the past few years, Ashley has raised over $200,000 for various charitable organizations such as the Boys & Girls Club, The Palm Beach Zoo, South Florida Science Museum, Wolfson Children’s Hospital, Women’s Center of Jacksonville, Junior Achievement, American Red Cross, Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of America, Hospice of Palm Beach County, and more.  On October 23, 2007, Ashley was honored by Proclamation by the Wellington Village Council for winning the title of Mrs. Florida International and as an acknowledgment of her extensive community service.

Ashley is the proud wife of Joseph Maguire, mother of Kathryn, and step mother of Natalie.

If honored with the title of Mrs. International®, Ashley would use the title to reach a wider and more diverse demographic with her message.  She would be able to further the cause of the diabetes organizations that she represents, create more awareness about living with and finding a cure for diabetes, and be able to use the wider reach to educate and empower those living with diabetes.
