Meredith Boyd - 1st Runner-Up
Arthritis is everyone – everywhere. Declared a "Georgia Arthritis Survivor" by the Arthritis Foundation, Meredith Boyd has come a long way from the happy day she graduated from a wheelchair to crutches. The former "crippled girl" has been seen in print and on the runway. She is determined to never let the pain hold her back.
Currently the Group Leader\Director of Communications for a multi-national financial PR firm in Atlanta. You will also find her attending Arthritis Foundation events as an official spokesperson (Nationally and Georgia). Television and print have carried her message of hope for those afflicted with this debilitating disease.
Matthew Boyd is Meredith's husband of nine years. As a Lieutenant of Detectives for the Powder Springs Police Department, he introduced her to M.A.D.D. (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) in conjunction with D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education). Together they explored the Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run and annual games that share special places in their hearts.
Pain is universal – so is encouragement.
