1.If you were famous what would your stage name be?
J-Fabulous - short for Jessica Fabus - was born in my Brooklyn apartment, thanks to my ingenious roommates during my roaring 20s. While I was performing across the country as a dance music artist, J-Fab organically became my off-stage alter ego - grounded - yet glamorous, focused - yet fabulous. And honestly - she’s never left the building!
2.If you would attend a celebrity wedding which, would it be?
George and Amal Clooney’s. Give me timeless elegance, effortless style, and the Italian countryside any day of the week!
What really speaks to me is they fell in love through months of emails—just like my husband Dan and I! There’s something magical about letter writing and good old-fashioned romance. Although my wedding gown came from a quaint resale shop in Coronado, CA and not a couture atelier, classic love stories never go out of style.
3.What is the weirdest gift you’ve ever received?
The gift of the word “No.” I never imagined it could be a blessing, but it’s become the catalyst for everything meaningful in my life. Every “No” I received - as an athlete, pageant competitor, advocate, and entrepreneur - pushed me closer to my purpose. It taught me to start honoring my unique voice and to persevere in my God-given gifts. The word that once felt like rejection became the bridge to success!
4.What is the most random fact you know?
All the prepositions in the English language - words like “above, around, across” - can be sung to the tune of Yankee Doodle Dandy! All thanks to my 7th grade English teacher’s unforgettable “Preposition Song”...I can still sing this song without missing a beat if you dare me! The clearest proof ever that great teaching sticks with you for life.
5.What is the one thing you’ll never do again?
...Cross the Canadian border without a passport! About 10 years ago, I accidentally crossed the Canadian border without a passport thanks to one wrong turn in Buffalo, NY. We were turned around quickly, but once back on the U.S. side, we were detained for hours! Thankfully, I was with friends, and now it’s one of those wild stories we still laugh about today. Who knew an accidental border crossing would become such a memorable adventure?
